I LOVE the concept of a modern day Arthur and his knights (I've always had a secret crush on him, shhh). This is a great start to a series that is magical, sensual, exciting and an all-around great story that any fans of the genre will enjoy!Merci is a beautiful woman that's also tough as nails. Caught between light and dark due to her heritage. She does not want anyone to know about the darkness within her. Including the man she loves. The only man for her in this life and the next.
Drake is one hot knight! He's another one that is as tough as tough can be. He comes off a cold, a bit cruel and unfeeling... But I feel he has the right to. After all, he's the reincarnation of Merlin and his powers have been bound for a long time. That's a form of torture, undeserving at that. All because of an evil malicious female that (in my eyes) just has nothing better to do. He loves a woman, a very special woman, but is afraid to get too close to her because of the evil wench always at his back. Can love conquer all in this case or is it never meant to be for these two tortured souls?
Beloved Wizard is a quick short read that leaves the reader wanting more in the very best of ways. I look forward to what's to come in the rest of the series and to so much more of Arthur and his knights ;)

A series dedicated to King Arthur, Merlin and Arthur's knights. I love it! The author stuck with the history of Arthur and this series takes place in the present. Arthur and his men have been reincarnated many times over but so has his enemies.
The attraction and love between Merci and Drake is obvious from the start of the story. I like how what brought them together was a vindictive goddess and a curse. Merci is very good at kicking butt with her magic in a fight. Merlin aka Drake is an awesome fighter without his magic. I enjoyed their story. It was short but really sticks with you and introduced the series well.

This book has a little bit of everything. Its a unique twist on the Arthurian legend that most romance readers love to get their hands on. What HEA lover wasn't crazy over the legends associated with his knights and their gallantries? This book is focused on Merlin. Merlin is reincarnated into this time as Drake, but his powers are bound by the goddess Nimue. All he has are his memories and some wondrous fighting skills. You don't find out why Nimue wants him to suffer, but there really has to be a story behind it. She acts like a woman scorned and I'm sure a goddess in that frame of mind is a lot scarier than us mere mortals..lol. Because of Nimue, Drake has relationship issues. He falls in love with Merci but pushes her away.
Merci is a descendant of Morgan Le Fey, and has inherited her dark magic. She struggles constantly with keeping her dark magic under wraps, but it has a seductive pull. Drake breaks it off with her and she leaves Author's services to go out on her own to try and start over. The story begins with Author seeking her out because Drake is missing. Merci curses him but agrees to help. Even though her heart is shattered by his dismissal, she needs to know he is alright.
They are thrust together because of one goddess's vengeance, but may walk away with more than they ever though possible. This was quite an entertaining twist on the old legend and contains something for everyone!! I really enjoyed this read and hope Shannan continues with the series!! It was a quick, hot ride!!
Ok so I am smiling from ear to ear as I think about this awesome story. I have to say this is such a creative story taking the mid-evil time characters such as Merlin, Arthur, his Knights, and the Lady of Avalon and reincarnating them into today's current time especially since they end up in VEGAS BABY! LOL, I totally loved it.
The story gets interesting from the first page explaining how Drake - Merlin the Wizard was long ago cursed by a woman he was once madly in love with named Nimue. Nimue seduced Merlin into teaching her everything she knows and then she betrays him by cursing him and taking all his powers from him leaving only his memories as he reincarnates into the future for eternity. Nimue then becomes known as the Goddess of Weaponry.
To make things more interesting, Nimue is bored and decides she wants to rid of Merlin for good and she sets out to kill off his soul for good, however to do that she takes revenge against the people he cares about and in this case it is his ex-girlfriend Merci Tramaine - a direct descendant of Morgan le Fay. Nimue gets more than she can bargain for when she goes up against Merci because what she doesn't count on is the power of Love as Merci hones in on her powers from the dark side to fight against her and break the curse over Merlin.
I loved Merlin's character and loved how you turned him into a hansom hunk with a great body and a wild passionate side that was insatiable especially when it came to Merci. Their erotic scenes are steaming hot.
In such a short story the plot thickens deeper as it brings in Arthur (King Arthur) who so happens to operate Templar Security and Investigations, a job Arthur and his Knights is all too familiar with of righting wrongs. They may not have their round table in this modern day time but they still heed that Robin Hood mentality.
I loved the ending as the plot comes to its climax and the twist of the faiths regarding Merlin and Merci. I loved seeing the appearance of other characters such as Viviane - the Lady of Avalon in her skimpy short skirt, Lancelot still looking young and hansom and still living on the Mist of Avalon, and of course knowing where Excalibur is hidden had me laughing out loud. This was such an enjoyable fun read and I look forward to reading more into this series. I am a true fan of Shannan Albright.
